EXP3 Final Submission Images

The above image is a long shot of the valley that I developed using the crisis sandbox editor. I used the layer painter to create white and brown tops on the mountains as well as the sand at the bottom. I have created a wide valley with a river flowing through it and an island in the middle where the two clients will meet.

The above two images show the office that I developed for Lady Gaga. The large dome covered in bubbles was inspired by one of her costumes and fits with the way in which she pushes boundaries. The design is highly original and unusual thereby alluding to the shock factor that Lady Gaga likes to generate.

These Images show Oprah's office design, which is simplistic yet stylish in its adoption of a traditional building design. As seen in the first image the front doors are made of glass so are transparent so that Oprah can enjoy the view over the valley and river. The second picture captures the view from the office of the sun setting over the valley.

The elevators that I have created are in accordance with the design philosophy I adopted for my offices. Oprah's elevator (pictured directly above) is simplistic yet elegant. The front, curved part is made from glass allowing her to overlook the valley as she travels down to the dining table. Lady Gaga's yellow elevator is again unconventional, and was inpired by one of her stage costumes.

These final two images show the dining table where the two clients will meet. The table has been textured to look like stone so that it fits into, rather than detracts from, the serene environment I have created. I have made an island between the two mountain ranges. This landscape has been modelled from the Aosta valley in Italy, which is breathtaking in its beauty. I therefore have created a table design that appears as if it too is part of the natural environment and it therefore doesn't disrupt the peaceful nature of the island, surrounding water and vegetation.

Draft Environments

The first environment that I developed was based on a canyon, with a barren landscape and dead, dry vegetation. I decided that this landscape was no suitable for my clients and wanted something that provided a picturesque place for the clients to meet.

I then developed a more lush, tropical landscape with a river flowing through the canyon and green foliation. I decided that this was more appropriate for the purpose of my assignment and thus developed this further for my final submission.

Bridge Design

This is the bridge that I have designed to cross the valley between the two clients' offices. The cricles that surround the bridge are not only aethetically pleasing but also form a connection between the clients. For Oprah they are representative of the large "O" in her logo, while for Gaga the inpiration is drawn from one of her ofher stage costumes in which she had rings surrounding her. Therefore as the design incorporates both of these inspirations into one architectural element it is highly approriate for bridging the gap between the two offices.

Table Design

This is the table that I have designed for Oprah and Lady Gaga to meet. I have included aspects that both clients have in common while also incorporating slight details to suit their differences. Lady Gaga's seat is curved over as a reinterpretation of the traditional egg chair. This idea was inpired by one of Gaga'sperformances for which she emerged from an egg. Oprah's seat is more simplistic and resembles the shape of a crown in order to emphasis the massive telelvision empire that her show and her name represent. The table will sit on a small island in the river that flows through the bottom of my valley. I have a applied a stone texture to the whole design as I don't want the table to detract from the surrounding environment that i have created. The serene island surrounded by mountains and water is idealic and thus I wanted the table and chairs to appear as if they were part of the natural environment.

Oprah Elevator Design

The elevator I have designed for Oprah is also simplistic yet stylish. I have created the front, curved wall of the elevator out of glass to enable Oprah to take in the breathtaking view of the valley as she ventures down to the table below the bridge.

Oprah Office Design

These Images show the sketchup model of my design for Oprah's office. The architectural style of this office contrasts greatly with the one I chose to use for Lady Gaga's office. Oprah's office is stylish and simplistic. I have chosen a more discrete colour pallete as well as a more conventional layout. I have provided various rooms to allow Oprah the space to work on all aspects of her multi-faceted career, thereby suiting the needs of the client.

Lady Gaga Elevator Design

My design for Lady Gaga's Elevator, like the office, is also eccentric and portrays Gaga's desire to explore the new. It is an unsual shape inpired by another one of her stage costumes, as picutred below.

Lady Gaga Office Design

This image shows my design for Lady Gaga's office. My idea is very eccentric and unusual as my design was inpired by the craziness of Lady Gaga's stage costumes. I wanted to emulate the way in which Gaga likes to push boundaries and explore the unknown. In particular my design was inspired by the bubble costume she wore (picture below) whcih was highly original and had a certain shock value. I have used a large dome instead of a generic office with flat walls in accordance with Gaga's desire to be different and I have applied one of my custom textures to the dome to add to the eccentricity of the appearance.
